Salem is a city in Dent County, Missouri, United States. The population was 4,854 at the 2000 census. It is the county seat of Dent County. Salem sits very close to the Ozark Scenic Riverways and is close to Montauk, which is where the Current River begins. It is home to many whole-hearted Ozark people who care for one another and the environment they live in.
